Questions (Very Rough Draft):

1. What is the effect of three dimensional reading* on developing greater understanding of a topic?
*“Three dimensional reading” is reading across, down and deeper into the information, enabled by hypertext links.
2. What do students do when confronted by text that contains hypertext links?
Do they click? When? Where on the page? Why? If not, why not? Is there a pattern?

Questions for students:

1. I prefer to read text on
a. paper or on
b. a computer screen

2. When a document has hyperlinks do I usually click on them?
a. yes
b. no

3. If so, why?
a. I need to define an unknown term, concept or idea.
b. I want to see where the link takes me.
c. I just like to click.

4. I may not click on hyperlink text because
a. I usually feel I have enough information
b. I don’t care
c. I find it distracting
d. It takes too long
